The online learning resource complements four curricula by focusing on plant proteins in sustainable food and is designed for long-term use. This field is rapidly growing due to Europe’s need for sustainable protein solutions, supported by major public investments and national strategies. Integrated into master’s programs and linked to research and innovation, the resource will be continuously updated through collaboration between digital learning centers.

The project also aims to sustain activities beyond its duration, including an annual summer school and expanded academic mobility through Erasmus programs. Partnerships with research, industry, and communication networks will support dissemination and funding. Ultimately, the consortium will foster long-term collaboration to advance plant protein use in food from economic, environmental, and nutritional perspectives, contributing to European food transition strategies.

The online resource will benefit all partner institutions and their related master’s programs in food science, biotechnology, and plant science, while also being accessible to other universities within the 4EU+ Alliance and worldwide. It will extend to additional engineering schools in the Polytech network, supporting interdisciplinary training in biological engineering and sustainable food.

By relying on a strong academic network, the project encourages wider collaboration, including participation from humanities to address topics like consumer behavior. More broadly, it will enhance teaching resources, strengthen digital learning practices, and increase the visibility and attractiveness of participating institutions at both national and European levels.

The project’s success will be measured through the creation of the online learning resource and the organization of two summer schools. Its integration into four master’s programs (6 ECTS) ensures both its importance and long-term use. Continuous feedback from alumni and industry networks will support content updates and strengthen links with the socio-economic sector at a European level.

The platform’s reach will be evaluated through user data and feedback, while the summer schools will be assessed by participant diversity, satisfaction surveys, and their impact on internships and employment over time. Overall, these evaluation tools will improve the resource, sustain collaboration, and support the development of a research consortium, measured by participation and emerging joint projects across academia and industry.
